Bali - Tegalalang Rice Terraces

The Tegalalang Rice Terraces are close to Ubud. It took us around 45 minutes to get there by taxi. Honestly speaking, it took us nearly 2.5 hours as the driver stopped at many spots that he thought could be of interest. Indeed, the stopped at locations where they take all the tourists to - if you want or not. So he brought us to a artificial rice field first, where they offer you a swing for the famous instagram pics. You can also try and taste the Luwak coffee, which is produced from the poop of a cat -animal. We had a sip of the coffee. It tasted better than the normal Bali coffee they served us at the same time. But the "good" taste of the Luwak coffee had a better taste than the Balinese coffee only because of the bad taste of the this. At least this marketing gag is a success as many tourists bought the coffee :)

After having seen the marketing program we finally arrived at the rice terraces. We can definitely recommend strolling across the fields and enjoying the beautiful scenery. We followed the track through the fields. After a little hike up a small hill, you can enjoy a brilliant view over the fields. It was only the drone, who had a better view on the fields and gave us insight to the constructions of a rice terrace.

The walk acroos the fields is  amazing. Take your time if you are in this area. Probably the Rice terraces are the most stunning scenery. This picturesque landscape makes you stop for several times to take a photograph.

On the way through the field you may have the Chance to oberserve some locals working in the field. Those Living in the are, who are not active in Rice farming, will probably offer you some drinks on the way, a swing over the filed, or a traditional head. At least you do not have to be afraid of running out of water when hiking.
