Western Australia - Kununurra - Ord River

The closer we came to the Northern Territory, the worse the street conditions became but the better the wildlife. This also counts for the region of Kununurra, in the very North East of Western Australia. Not much to do than enjoying the peaceful nature and a boat cruise on the Old River. The river system of the region was quite interesting - the river system and a manmade Ord River Da, which hold back the waters of Lake Argyle - create a home for plenty of wildlife.

Cruising along the river is quite fun. We crossed amazing sceneries and landscapes and we had the chance to spot wildlife. This includes freshwater crocodiles - always thrilling to see these reptiles in their natural habitats.

Everybody who is into birding will love this place - and who is not into birding will start building interest in birding as there is nothing else to do anyways.

There is one thing we will not forget: The massive armada of mosquitos in our camper van. So better take some time to get rid of these beasts before falling to sleep.

Kununurra is nothing more than a place for a stop over on the way to Darwin. Nevertheless, it was worth it spending there 2 nights to have the time for the Cruise.
