6 weeks without traveling is a long time. And although there is another Bali trip planned in one week already - we needed to get away. A quick escape out of Singapore.
We decided to go to an Indonesian island, called Cempedak, which is not too far away from Singapore. Getting there takes around 2.5 hours from Singapore ferry terminal to the island.
The journey is pretty convenient - and especially the immigration to Indonesia is fast as you can use the executive immigration when traveling to that island.
Cempedak is a very small island - near Bintan. There is nothing but the small resort on the island. And the resort itself is primary for couples - the villas offer space for two pax only. That may sound boring - but it is exactly the right choice in case you need a weekend of doing nothing.
What makes the resort special is the resort's style. Everything is open space. No closed rooms - no walls - mainly no doors. The villas are built of bamboo. And theoretically everybody has access to everything - including bats, spiders, mosquitos. But none of these 'horrors' was real. We had no problems at all although we lived with in this open space environment. Maybe the first night's sleep is strange - but all the potential problems and challenges have been forgotten soon.
We really enjoyed that short break - the ocean breeze day and night - the never ending sound of the ocean and the vibrant atmosphere of jungle around you. It is an amazing place to calm down.
Whenever we have the chance and necessity to go there again, we probably would do it as we came home more than relaxed.
The hospitality and the service have been one additional reason why we could enjoy ourselves. The resort offers a very amazing and beautiful spa - oceanfront massages. Furthermore, the food is brilliant. A stay in the resort comes with breakfast, lunch, and dinner - whereas all of them are set. It is a mix of western and Indonesian cuisine. Each of the courses was very good.
Happy life on a private island. A year ago, we did not even think about places like this. Today we wonder when we can go there again.
