Bali - Ubud

Business as usual: public holiday in Singapore and an extended weekend result in another short trip to Ubud. This time we spent some days in Ubud with our family. Our activities in Ubud were minimized to spa treatments, pool session, walks across rice fields as well as nice dinners in Ubud.

Rice Fields and Manuaba Waterfall

We stayed at a "Dedarya" - a small private villa resort. The location is in the mid of rice fields we found ourselves in a quite idyllic landscape.

The pool villa with jungle and rice field view is a good place to relax and recover from the busy moments in life. But not only the resort itself offers a beautiful lookout on the landscape. From the hotel it is only a 30 minutes walk to the next waterfall in the area. Manuaba waterfall can be easily reached. It is a nice walk through a local village and the waterfall itself is not very popular. There is no tourism at all - no tourist groups queuing up to take pictures at the waterfall.

We had a really good time being there and the jungle scenery and the waterfall are a quite good location to take some nice pictures as well.

Treat yourself well

Being in Ubud means being exposed to a lot of Spa and massage offers. Karsa Spa has a very good reputation for its massages and treatments. And since our hotel was not too far away from Karsa Spa we used the opportunity and booked some treatments. We were lucky that we made the bookings in advance - around 3 weeks before we arrived - as the place is very well known and the demand for their awesome massages is high. It is worth going there. The treatments were excellent.

From Karsa Spa we took a trekking way to Ubud: Campuhan Ridge Walk. It takes you 30 to 40 minutes from the Spa to Ubud. The walk is nothing spectacular but it is probably the fastest and most convenient way to get downtown. And after a couple hours of massages and pedicure it is not a bad thing to do a walk.

Karsa Spa is definitely a place we can recommend. It is authentic - location is very beautiful - quality of treatments is excellent. We definitely will come back.

When daily activities are reduced to spa treatments, pool sessions, and  some walks - it is also important to end your day well at a nice restaurant. We were lucky with two recommendations in Ubud.

Mozaic was one of them. It is high class food in Bali served in a very nice garden location and a beautiful atmosphere. We spent quite a long time at the restaurant, which offers a brilliant degustation menu.

Copper also invites for a nice dinner. The place is located in a quiet part of Ubud center - still in walking distance. We had a very good dinner on the rooftop terrace surrounded by the sounds of the jungle and nearest fields.
