Singapore offers a lot of green places and nature in the city. One of our favourites are the Botanic Gardens. We often go there on Sundays if we need some fresh air. You can easily spend half a day in the Gardens. The different trails will lead you through the various thematic areas, such as the Ginger Garden, the Palm Tree Valley or the Evolution Garden.
Furthermore, the Botanic Gardens are also one of our secret places for dinner.
There is a very nice restaurant in the Ginger Garden, called "The Halia", where you may not find the common food and beverages as in any other restaurant. Their products often use ginger as an ingredient. We sometimes read the menu, not knowing what to eat as the combinations may sound strange to you. But we never regret being there as the food and drinks have always been awesome.
For Sunday walks, we prefer to enter the garden at the Tanglin Gate. This comes from the fact that we usually go for a breakfast on Sundays. Nassim Hill Bakery is a nice place to have brekky near the Botanic Garden. From there it is only a ten minutes walk until you reach the Tanglin Gate.
From there you easily reach the Swan Lake, which also leads you to the SPH Walk of Giants to look out for birds and snakes. Wetlands and Ginger Garden are potential next stops before you can head to the Rain Forest Walk. The trail to the rain forest leads you o the Orchid Plaza, from where you have a wonderful view on the Palm Valley (watch out for the otters here). After strolling through the grass in the Palm Valley, the main trail leads you to the Botanic Garden MRT. On the way, you can also turn right into the Evolution Garden.
We prefer this route on Sundays as the main crowd is entering the park from the MRT station. That means it is a little bit more crowded when you reach in the end of the walk. Nevertheless, a brilliant choice to enjoy the nature and plants throughout huge garden.
